Make All The Wishes.

On our December trip, our daughter asked about the coins in the water on It’s a Small World.  I told her that people will throw coins in the water when they make a wish.  This prompted her Continue reading “Make All The Wishes.”

Back At It!

Halloween and Christmas Party Dates Announced!

MNSSHP Main Street

Disney announced party dates for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party as well as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party this week, falling on 53 nights!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

August dates include:  25, 26

September dates include:  1, 7, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29

October dates include:  1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27, 29, 31

November dates include:  1

Between the two holiday parties, this one is by far our favorite.  There just seems to be “more” at this one that the Christmas party.  I love the Cadaver Dans, Carlotta and Renata outside the Haunted Mansion, dressing up, trick or treating by the handfuls, and the special parade with the Headless Horseman.

If you are planning on attending and dressing up, here are some important costume guidelines from the Disney website:

  • Disney reserves the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that is considered inappropriate or attire that could detract from the experience of other Guests.
  • All Guests may dress as their favorite character, but may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
  • Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.
  • Costumes may not contain any weapons that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
  • Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
  • Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into, and/or removed from, unless his or her costume can be modified to meet the above standards.

For Guests ages 13 and under:

  • Costumes and some masks may be worn, as long as the mask does not cover the entire face and eyes are visible.

For Guests ages 14 and older:

  • Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
  • Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground. (e.g. full-length Princess dresses)
  • Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
  • Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, and hats are acceptable.
  • Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus. Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
  • May not wear masks of any kind.

MonorailThe Halloween party is an event not to be missed!  We have gone the past 5 years, and have even enjoyed dressing up in the past.  Our daughter’s first trip included Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, where she was dressed as the Monorail with her stroller, and I was a Monorail pilot.  The stripes on my shirt were made of duct tape and I was wearing sandals, but that didn’t stop people from asking me questions like I was a real cast member.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

November dates include:  9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 26, 28

December dates include:  1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22

The Christmas party also has a special parade – some of which you see televised Christmas morning on ABC.  They also offer guests unlimited hot chocolate and cookies to snack on during the party.  There are some additional holiday themed events happening, but nothing that really excited us as much as the events at the Halloween party.

When we went in 2015, we did wait in line at Princess Fairytale Hall to get a rare photo with Royal Couples.  Yes, the Christmas party is one of the few times the Disney Princesses appear with their Princes!

I think because there were so many other holiday events happening at the other parks and resorts, it kind of took some of the uniqueness away from the Magic Kingdom party.  Well, for us, at least.  2015 was the end of the Osborne Lights at Hollywood Studios, so we spent a lot of time there.  We also really enjoyed Holidays around the World in the World Showcase at Epcot, as well as visiting the different resorts and viewing their holiday displays.  Maybe we were a little Christmased out?

So far, our plans this year only include the Christmas party.  Who knows if we will make it to a Halloween party or not.  I feel like we have a pretty good streak with 5 years in a row and I would hate to break it.  We did decide to go ahead with renewing our annual passes when we arrive at the end of the month and swallowing the bitter pill of getting our daughter her own pass now that she’s three.  I guess we’ll see how the year unfolds!

2017 Plans

2016 is coming to an end, and 2017 is right around the corner.  Looking back, this year was full of Disney memories for me.

2016-disneyWe kicked off 2016 with Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World, followed soon by Princess Half Marathon Weekend in February.  We headed back down in April for the inaugural Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend.  The first two races were great, but Star Wars left a lot lacking, in my opinion.   Continue reading “2017 Plans”

It’s Good To Be Home

Well, my Disney friends, I’ve just returned from a whirlwind vacation!  Relaxing?  No, not really.  Fun?  Absolutely!

I have always pointed out to my husband that I have never been able to spend my birthday at Disney.  Of course, this was for two very good reasons…the heat and the crowds!  Having a birthday at the end of July means peak crowds and temperatures in Orlando.  But this was a big birthday, so we made an exception this time.  🙂 Continue reading “It’s Good To Be Home”
